Step-by-Step Instructions
- Prep the lemon: Cut a fresh lemon in half and remove any seeds.
- Apply the salt: Generously sprinkle coarse or table salt directly onto the cut side of the lemon. (Alternatively, you can squeeze the lemon juice into a bowl and dip the salted lemon or a soft sponge into it).
- Scrub the copper: Gently rub the salted lemon face down over the tarnished copper surface in circular motions. Add more salt to the lemon as needed while you work.
- Rinse: Wash the copperware thoroughly with warm water to remove all acid and salt residue.
- Dry: Immediately buff and dry the piece completely with a soft cloth or microfiber towel to prevent water spots and new tarnish.
